The Adamawa State House of Assembly has recommended a one-month suspension for the Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, Simon Musa Shashi, over the alleged unlawful closure of schools within the council.
The resolution which was passed on Monday, as lawmakers reconvened from recess, followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by the Majority Leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno, during plenary.
Mamuno informed the House that the council chairman had ordered the shutdown of schools without legal backing, an action members unanimously condemned as unlawful. Lawmakers stressed that no public official is above the law.
In its resolution, the Assembly recommended a one-month suspension for Hon. Shashi and directed its Committees on Education and Local Government Affairs to conduct a thorough investigation and report back within three weeks.
Presiding over the session, Speaker of the House, Bathiya Wesley, instructed the Clerk to formally convey the resolution to the Executive Governor for further action.
