As governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, of Gombe state marks seven years of purposeful and people-centered democratic governance in the state, the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) proudly celebrates a leadership that continues to prioritize inclusion, women empowerment, and sustainable community development.
Under the visionary leadership of governor Yahaya, Gombe state has continued to create an enabling environment for development interventions to thrive, particularly in empowering women economically and socially through the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project.
The state Project Coordinator of NFWP-SU in, Hajiya Hauwa Adamu Saraki, commended the governor for his unwavering support towards initiatives aimed at uplifting women and vulnerable groups across the state.
According to her, the has successfully created over 2,014 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs), representing 67% achievement of the project’s first target so far.
She noted that this milestone reflects the commitment, resilience, and dedication of project staff, facilitators, stakeholders, and community members working tirelessly in the field.
She further highlighted some of the major successes recorded by the NFWP-SU in the state to include:
successful establishment and strengthening of Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) across participating communities., improved access to financial inclusion, savings culture, and small-scale business support for women, capacity building and skills acquisition programs aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence.
Others, as mentioned by her, inclued strengthened collaboration with community leaders, institutions, and development partners to improve grassroots participation, promotion of social inclusion and community-driven development initiatives, and ongoing training and orientation of project staff and beneficiaries to ensure effective implementation and sustainability, among others.
Shei noted that the successes achieved so far align with the broader vision of the NFWP-SU, which is designed to institutionalize Women Affinity Groups and expand economic opportunities for women across Nigeria.
She further applauded governor Yahaya for his commitment to policies and programs that continue to improve the lives of women, families, and communities in Gombe State.
“As we celebrate seven years of impactful democratic governance, we remain committed to supporting the vision of inclusive growth, women empowerment, and sustainable development in Gombe State,” she stated.
