The Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has matriculated 8,591 undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Vice-Chancellor, Ibrahim Umar, who addressed the students during the ceremony, charged them to remain focused and committed to their academic goals, stressing that university education comes with responsibility and discipline.
He urged the new intakes to uphold values of integrity and academic excellence, noting that gaining admission into the institution marks the beginning of a purposeful journey.
The Vice-Chancellor warned that the university has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices, adding that offenders would face strict disciplinary measures.
Umar disclosed that 132 international postgraduate students were admitted for the session, underscoring the institution’s growing global outlook and commitment to maintaining high standards.
He further highlighted key achievements recorded by the university, including the establishment of new faculties—Communication and Mass Media Studies, Computing, and Arts—as part of efforts to expand academic offerings.
On infrastructure, he noted that the institution now enjoys 24-hour solar-powered electricity, a development he described as critical to enhancing teaching, learning, and research.
The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged accommodation challenges faced by some students but assured that measures are already in place, including plans for additional hostel projects.
