The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects involved in the gruesome murder of a 10-year-old girl in the state.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, through a statement shared on his official account on X (formerly Twitter). Edafe also shared a video showing the suspects being interrogated.
In his statement, Edafe revealed that the victim, one of three triplets, was deceived by her sister’s boyfriend and handed over to two unknown men who killed her with a machete.
“The boyfriend of the girl deceived one of the triplets, who is a sister to his girlfriend, and took her to meet two unknown men, where they used a machete to kill the little girl, who is 10 years old. They promised to give him ₦200,000, but even the ₦200,000, he didn’t see,” Edafe said.
During the interrogation, one of the suspects, identified as 20-year-old Precious, confessed to his involvement in the crime.
He admitted, “I sent a guy to call her (one of the 10-year-old triplets). I then handed her over to the two boys, and they killed her with a cutlass.”
The horrific incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for justice for the young victim.
Investigations into the case, according to the command spokesperson, are ongoing as authorities work to uncover all those involved.
