The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed concern over the recent tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Niger State, which claimed numerous lives and left many injured.
Governor Yahaya, who is also the governor of Gombe State, made the statement through his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli.
Speaking on behalf of the Northern governors, Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Niger State.
“This tragic incident at Dikko Junction is heartbreaking and has plunged families and the nation into anguish,” Yahaya said.
“On behalf of the Northern Governors, I extend our deepest condolences to the victims’ families and the people of Niger State. We stand in solidarity with you and share in your grief.”
Governor Yahaya also commended Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and emergency response agencies for their swift action in addressing the tragedy. He prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
In light of the tragedy, Yahaya called on stakeholders in the transportation and petroleum industries to enforce stricter safety protocols for handling and transporting flammable materials.
“The Northern States Governors’ Forum is committed to advocating for policies that prioritize public safety and provide necessary support to victims of such unfortunate incidents,” he stated.
