The Bauchi State Government has declared Friday, November 28, 2025, a work-free day in honour of the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a revered Islamic scholar whose funeral prayer is scheduled to hold tomorrow.
According to a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, the decision was approved by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to allow civil servants, students, followers of the scholar, and the general public to participate in the funeral rites and pay their last respects.
The government described Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi as an influential figure whose contributions to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and the promotion of peace and moral values resonated across Nigeria and beyond.
As the state mourns his passing, the government urged residents to pray for the repose of his soul and stand in solidarity with his family, students, followers, and the wider Muslim community.
