The Gombe State High Court, under the leadership of Justice Fatima Musa, has scheduled February 17, 2025, for the hearing of a contentious land dispute between Emir General Enterprises Limited and Grandscope Construction Limited.

The case, centered on allegations of land trespass, will address a pending motion filed by the plaintiff, Emir General Enterprises, during the upcoming hearing.

Barrister Suleiman Abdurraheem, representing Emir General Enterprises, informed reporters after court proceedings that the dispute stems from alleged unauthorized construction activities by Grandscope Construction on a parcel of land owned by his client.

He highlighted that the court had earlier issued an ex-parte order restraining the defendant from further developments on the property.

On the other hand, Barrister Garba Ibn Ali Subi, counsel for Grandscope Construction, acknowledged receipt of the plaintiff’s documents during the session.

He assured the court and the media that his client would file a formal response before the hearing date.

The court, it would be recalled to have initially issued a restraining order on November 14, 2024, under Suit No. GM/116/2024.

The order prohibited Grandscope Construction and its representatives from entering or developing the disputed property until the case is resolved.

Additionally, on December 17, 2024, Justice Musa approved substituted service of court documents, permitting them to be posted on the office wall of Grandscope Construction.

Emir General Enterprises claims to be the rightful owner of the land, citing Certificate of Occupancy No. GM/15926 for the property located along Gombe-Bajoga Road near the NURTW office.

The plaintiff seeks various remedies, including the demolition of any structures erected by the defendant on the disputed land, special damages of ₦35 million, and general damages amounting to ₦800 million.
