In a tragic turn of event, a man identified as Tartor Ayihe from Benue state has ended his life after being confronted over the sale of a single plot of land to three buyers.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when all the buyers gathered at the village chief’s residence to address the matter.
During the inquiry, the deceased, was said to have excused himself, claiming he need to retrieve something from his house.
According to eyewitnesses account, he visited three different shops in search of a pesticide known as sniper, which he eventually purchased.
Returning home, he switched off his phone and consumed the entire bottle of the toxic substance.
Alarmed by his prolonged absence, the village chief sent people to check on him. Upon arrival, they discovered that he had ingested the pesticide.
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.
The incident has left the community in shock, sparking discussions on land disputes and psychological toll of such conflicts.
