Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, on Monday inaugurated the newly elected Executive Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, charging them to strengthen the party’s base and work towards securing greater victories in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Government House in Yola, Professor Farauta called for reconciliation and collaboration between the outgoing and incoming party leadership to foster unity and progress within the PDP.

“The party must close ranks, work in synergy, and carry everyone along—especially women, youths, and other stakeholders—to consolidate on the gains already made in the state,” she said.

The Deputy Governor expressed optimism that the new executive committee would sustain the PDP’s influence, particularly at the grassroots level, emphasizing inclusiveness and party cohesion.

Earlier in his remarks, outgoing PDP Chairman, Barrister Abubakar Tahir Shehu, thanked party members for their unwavering support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same to the new leadership.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new Chairman, Hon. Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali, and his team to deliver on their mandate and steer the party to greater heights.

In his acceptance speech, Hamza Madagali, who emerged unopposed, described his election as a collective victory for the party and for democracy.

“We will build on the trust of our supporters and remain committed to advancing the party’s ideals across the state,” said Madagali, a former chairman of Madagali Local Government and erstwhile organising secretary of the PDP.

Other key members of the newly inaugurated executive council include Engr. Belmond Dogo as Deputy State Chairman; Umar Sahid (South), Shekarau Yerima (Central), and Steven Doma (North) as Vice Chairmen; Saleh Mohammed Musa Shelleng as State Secretary; Barr. Ishaku Y. Daniel as Legal Adviser; and Bature Moses as Auditor.

Also on the team are Titus Samaila as Organising Secretary (South), Victor Dogo as Publicity Secretary (South), Ahmadu Dahiru as Treasurer (North), Suzan Zira as Woman Leader (North), Dedan Clifford as Youth Leader (South), and Jafaru Yusuf as Financial Secretary (South), among others.

The inauguration marks a new chapter for the PDP in Adamawa as it sets its sights on strengthening internal structures and preparing for upcoming political contests.
