Police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu have arrested four individuals, including a woman, suspected to be members of a notorious kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate operating in Anambra State.
The arrest, confirmed in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, followed a successful operation based on credible intelligence. Officers stormed a hideout in Uke, Idemili Local Government Area, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
During the raid, police recovered a black Lexus, an ash-coloured Toyota Camry, a Toyota Corolla, a vehicle spraying machine, and other items believed to have been stolen from victims.
According to police sources, the suspects aged between 19 and 28—have confessed to being involved in a series of kidnappings, car snatching, and armed robberies across the state.
Commissioner of Police, kioye Orutugu, disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, with efforts underway to track down other gang members who remain at large.
