Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued three victims, including a husband and wife, at Okacha Junction in Neni community.
According to a statement issued by the police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, officers from the Neni Divisional Headquarters responded swiftly to a distress call about the incident, mobilizing to the scene where they intercepted the suspected kidnappers and secured the release of the victims.
The rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the Joint Security Force, which includes personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups.
The team also recovered a black Lexus SUV with Abuja registration plates, which had been snatched from one of the victims and used by the kidnappers to flee.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, commended the swift response of the operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
He called on the public to continue partnering with security agencies to maintain peace and ensure a safer environment across the state.
