Amidst growing economic hardship and security concerns, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), The Most Rev. Dr. David O. C. Onuoha, has called for collective efforts to safeguard the unity and stability of Nigeria.
In a statement released today, Dr. Onuoha urged leaders at all levels of government to prioritize the welfare of citizens and avoid actions that could further inflame tensions.
He emphasized that impunity and disorder pose a significant threat to national cohesion, warning that a disregard for justice could lead to anarchy.
“It is imperative that those who serve in the temple of justice ensure their rulings promote order and accountability. Nigerians look up to them for pronouncements that uphold the rule of law, irrespective of status,” he stated.
Dr. Onuoha also reminded lawmakers of their responsibility to serve the people, not replace them, stressing that any action that does not serve the interests of the citizens is a betrayal of trust.
He expressed concern over the increasing violence in the country, including attacks on security personnel, urging authorities to take decisive action against perpetrators, whether they are herdsmen, terrorists, or bandits.
“These agents of destruction must be stopped before they destroy Nigeria,” he warned. “This can only be achieved through mutual love, trust, and unity of purpose.”
Calling for national reconciliation, he underscored the need for fairness, equity, and genuine brotherhood among Nigerians, irrespective of tribal or religious differences. He encouraged citizens to use the ongoing Lent and Ramadan periods for deep reflection and prayers for the nation.
The statement, as noticed by WorldClass247News, comes at a critical time when Nigeria faces mounting challenges that threaten its unity.
