The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to the 21 newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen following the successful conduct of local government elections across the state.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony on Wednesday, ADSIEC Chairman, Mohammed Umar, described the event as the successful conclusion of a critical phase in the democratic process.

He congratulated the newly elected chairmen and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate through effective, accountable, and people-oriented leadership.

“Today marks the successful conclusion of a critical phase in our democratic process,” Umar said.

“The Certificates of Return being presented today are not merely documents; they represent the trust and confidence reposed in you by the electorate. They are a mandate to serve with integrity, accountability, fairness, and dedication to the welfare of your people.”

According to him, the occasion symbolizes the triumph of the people’s will, the strength of democratic institutions, and a shared commitment to participatory governance at the grassroots level.

Umar commended electoral officials, security agencies, political parties, election observers, and other stakeholders for their contributions toward ensuring a peaceful, credible, and successful electoral process throughout the state.

He further charged the newly elected council chairmen to view their victory as a call to selfless service, noting that residents have high expectations of their leadership.

“The challenges facing our communities require visionary leadership, inclusiveness, transparency, and a genuine commitment to sustainable development,” he said.

The ADSIEC chairman also emphasized the importance of maintaining close engagement with the people, stressing that democracy flourishes when elected officials remain responsive to the needs of their constituents.

He urged the chairmen to promote unity, sustain peace, and prioritize the collective interests of their respective local government areas.

Speaking on behalf of the elected chairmen, the Chairman-elect of Michika Local Government Council, Hon. Danbiyu Paul Tumba, expressed appreciation to the electorate and ADSIEC for the confidence placed in them.

Tumba pledged that the newly elected council leaders would implement policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents across the 21 local government areas of the state.
