The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its efforts against organized crime, rescuing multiple kidnapped victims in Bayelsa and Adamawa States.

The operations, carried out with strategic precision, according to the made public by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Olumuyiwa Adejobi highlight the Force’s ongoing commitment to public safety and the fight against criminal elements.

“On March 7, 2025, at approximately 3:03 PM, police received a distress call reporting the abduction of Mr. Loveday Akari, Special Assistant to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The kidnapping occurred in Ayakoro Community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Acting swiftly, security operatives launched a coordinated rescue mission, restricting the movement of the kidnappers and applying sustained pressure that led to the safe rescue of Mr. Akari and another individual. Both victims were freed unharmed, and no ransom was paid, “the statement read.

In another major breakthrough, according to the release, security forces rescued two kidnapped Catholic priests in Adamawa State. The priests, Reverend Fathers Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami, were abducted on February 21, 2025.

Following intensive intelligence-led operations, police tracked down the kidnappers to various hideouts, leading to the arrest of a key suspect, 34-year-old Tahamado Jonathan Demian. Investigators believe Demian, a member of the same church as the victims, was involved in orchestrating the crime.

The carefully executed rescue operation on March 8, 2025, resulted in the safe release of the priests without ransom. Both victims are currently receiving medical attention. Authorities also recovered a locally fabricated assault rifle, ammunition, a handset, and SIM cards as evidence. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the officers involved for their bravery and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to dismantling criminal networks, rescuing victims, and ensuring perpetrators face justice.

The Nigeria Police Force urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by providing timely information to help combat crime.
