The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has provided food and non-food relief items to 2,251flood in Potiskum, Nangere, and Jakusko local government areas of Yobe state.
The distribution, which targeted 21 communities in Potiskum, two in Nangere, and six Jakusko, included essential supplies such as rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil nylon mats, blankets, children’s clothing, women’s wrappers, and shadda brocade , among others.
Speaking on behalf of the NEDC Managing Director/CEO, Mohammed Gone Alkali the Yobe state NEDC state coordinator, Professor Ali Ibrahim Abbas, appreciated the support of the state government and reiterated the Commission’s commitment to addressing emergencies and promoting development in the region.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, stressed that Governor Mai Mala Buni, remains committed to partnering with the NEDC and other development agencies to improve disaster preparedness and response in the state.
The chairman of Potikum council, commended the Commission for its timely intervention and urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the materials provided.
