The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has provided starter packs and financial support to 389 artisans, including youths, women, and persons with special needs, to boost their businesses in Adamawa State.
The Acting State Coordinator of NDE in Adamawa, Nuhu Bello, disclosed this at a resettlement ceremony for beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative in Yola. He stated that a total of 1,889 individuals had been trained and certified in various skills acquisition programs.
Bello expressed confidence in the quality of training received by the graduates, urging them to apply their newly acquired knowledge to benefit their communities and create more employment opportunities.
He emphasized that the program’s core mandate was to foster job creation and self-reliance among youths and women, ensuring sustainable employment in local communities.
He also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and funds provided for their chosen careers while commending the master trainers for their support in making the initiative a success.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of NDE, Silas Agara revealed that the agency had successfully trained 33,692, unemployed Nigerian youths, women, and persons with disabilities in various vocational skills.
Represented by Ibrahim Abali from the NDE’s Procurement Department in Abuja, Agara stated that the beneficiaries had received training in entrepreneurship and business management, agricultural skills, and public works activities across all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
He further announced that 5,532 beneficiaries would be provided with loans and starter packs nationwide to help them establish their businesses.
“This employment initiative is built on three core pillars: skils development, resettlement, and job creatio. It was officially launched on December 6, 2024, while the training commenced on December 9, 2024,” Agara stated.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Helen Jonah expressed appreciation to the NDE and the Renewed Hope Initiative for the training and support. She assured that the beneficiaries would use the starter packs and funds responsibly, in line with the program’s guidelines.
