The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC), Nigeria, has strongly condemned the recent bombing of Iran’s civilian nuclear facilities by the United States, describing the action as “illegal,” “unprovoked,” and “unjustifiable.”
In a statement signed by its Executive Chairman, Disu Kamor, MPAC warned that the strike represents a dangerous escalation in the already volatile Middle East and poses serious threats to global peace and security.
The organization likened the attack to previous U.S.-led military campaigns such as the wars in Iraq and Libya, which were launched based on questionable intelligence.
“This latest violation of international law, carried out under the guise of diplomacy, reflects a familiar pattern of reckless U.S. military adventurism, often orchestrated with the backing of the Israeli regime,” the statement read.
MPAC accused both the United States and Israel of waging a decades-long disinformation campaign against Iran’s nuclear programme. It pointed to repeated assessments by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which have confirmed that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons.
While expressing support for Iran’s sovereign right to defend itself, MPAC also called for restraint and urged all parties to pursue diplomatic avenues to prevent further escalation.
The group further alleged that the U.S. strike serves as a calculated diversion from what it described as “the ongoing genocide in Gaza,” where Israeli forces continue to target civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and refugee camps, allegedly with the support of Western powers.
MPAC also took aim at segments of the Nigerian media, accusing them of amplifying unverified and biased narratives in the aftermath of Israel’s earlier attack on Iran. The organization warned that such reporting risks inflaming public sentiment and reinforcing pro-war rhetoric.
Calling on the international community and civil society to reject what it termed “a dangerous path to more conflict,” MPAC urged renewed global commitment to peace, justice, and human dignity.
“The people of the region deserve better than a future shaped by manufactured threats and imperial aggression,” the statement concluded.
MPAC reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Iran and all victims of external aggression, vowing continued opposition to “imperial violence, state terrorism, and media complicity”.
