Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has condemned Retercha Company Limited for using substandard materials in a drainage project meant to combat erosion in Dutse Local Government Area, despite receiving N10.8 billion for the contract.
The project, reportedly supported by the World Bank under the Afro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape ( ACReSAL initiative, was designed to address erosion challenges in Danmasara, Yalwawa, and Kalgo communities. However, concerns have arisen over the quality of work being carried out.
During an inspection visit, Governor Namadi expressed disappointment with the contractor’s execution of the project and issued a stern warning that his administration would not tolerate poor workmanship.
He ordered the contractor to make immediate corrections and ensure that the project meets its intended purpose, emphasizing the government’s commitment to quality infrastructure for the people of Jigawa.
