The Evangel VVF Centre of Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Jos, has announced a free medical and surgical outreach for women and girls suffering from Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF), Recto-Vaginal Fistula (RVF) and perennial tears in Taraba State.
The week-long outreach is scheduled to take place from October 11 to 18, 2026, at GMCN Hospital, formerly known as UMCN Hospital, opposite the Civil Defence Headquarters, Mile 6, Jalingo.
Programme Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the organisation, Gwong Ayuba, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Jalingo.
Ayuba said the exercise was designed to provide free surgical treatment and medical care to women and girls affected by fistula-related conditions.
He said the Evangel VVF Centre had been providing free surgical treatment and other medical services to women suffering from VVF and RVF for more than 30 years.
According to him, the centre is inviting women and girls experiencing involuntary leakage of urine or stool to attend the outreach for medical assessment and possible surgical treatment.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at improving access to specialised fistula care, particularly for women who may face challenges accessing or affording the required treatment.
Ayuba urged affected women and girls in Taraba State and surrounding communities to take advantage of the outreach and present themselves for medical evaluation during the period.
