A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Yenagoa, the state capital, has sentenced four individuals to death by hanging for conspiracy and kidnapping.
The convicts, Manager Etonzor, Daniel Derietiedei, Inimotimi Rufus, and Tari Firstman, were found guilty under Section 2 (1) of the Bayelsa State Kidnapping and Other Offences Law of 2013.
Delivering the judgment in suit number YHC/43c/2021, Justice Patience Diri ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to the police prosecution counsel, the four men, led by Etonzor, stormed a dredging company’s worksite in Ayama Ijaw, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, and abducted the owner.
