The Anambra State Government has sealed off a shrine in Umuofor village, in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, allegedly operated by Ekene Igboegbueze for illicit spiritual activities, including money rituals.
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, led a security team, Operation Udo Ga-Achi, to shut down the shrine following numerous complaints from residents about Igboegbueze’s alleged fraudulent activities.
An online video surfaced in which Igboegbueze reportedly admitted to practicing “Oke Ite,” “Yahoo Plus,” and “Awele,” acts deemed illegal under Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.
Emeakayi revealed that the government had also seized all properties acquired by the suspect using proceeds from the alleged illegal business. Additionally, all items found in the shrine will undergo forensic examination, and the findings will determine the next course of action.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Operations for Agunechemba Security Outfit, Chinenye Ihenko, expressed concern over the increasing influence of fake native doctors and pastors in promoting a “get-rich-quick” mentality among youths.
He urged young people to refrain from seeking wealth through dubious means, warning that such practices are deceptive and harmful.
The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to cracking down on fraudulent spiritual practices and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
