Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area in response to renewed violence and unrest in several communities.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri condemned the disturbances as unacceptable and directed security agencies to enforce the curfew without exception.
“Anyone or any group found violating this directive will be arrested and dealt with according to the law,” the governor warned.
The curfew takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further notice.
Governor Fintiri urged residents to obey the curfew and cooperate with security forces, emphasizing the government’s resolve to restore peace and protect lives and property.
He also cautioned against the spread of rumors and encouraged the public to provide credible information to security agencies to help maintain calm.
“The Government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” Fintiri said.
