Dry season farmers in Donada community and surrounding areas in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State are celebrating a significant boost to agricultural production following the state government’s distribution of fertilizers to support dry-season farming.
The initiative, aimed at enhancing food security and supporting local farmers, has been met with excitement and gratitude.
Many beneficiaries, who depend on dry-season farming for their livelihoods, believe the intervention will lead to improved crop yields and greater economic stability.
Speaking to reporters, farmers such as Baba Coach and Grace Alfa Alfa, among others, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Nicholas Nemessan, and the state government for addressing a long-standing challenge.
They highlighted that limited access to fertilizers in recent years had hampered productivity, making this distribution a timely and much-needed relief.
The farmers, led by Smith Nicodemus, also commended the efforts of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Zanau Maikasuwa.
They emphasized that the fertilizer distribution would significantly enhance agricultural productivity in Donada and its environs.
Government officials reiterated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote agriculture and economic development in the state.
They assured farmers of continued support through similar programs designed to boost food production and improve rural livelihoods.
With dry-season farming now in full swing, expectations are high that the assistance will lead to increased harvests, benefiting both farmers and consumers across Taraba State and beyond.
