The Abia state police Commissioner, Danladi Isa, has dismissed three officers for their involvement in kidnapping and extortion.
The dismissed officers, Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (Force No. 501356), Corporal James Daniel (Force No. 511844), and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (Force No. 511853), were said to have been found guilty of abducting victims along the Port Harcourt Expressway on January 29, 2025.
According to police reports, the officers used intimidation tactics and demanded ransom payments from their victims’ families.
Following an internal investigation, the officers, according to the commissioner, were officially dismissed and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for prosecution.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Abia State Police Command’s commitment to upholding integrity and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and misconduct within the force.
“The Nigerian Police Force is dedicated to serving and protecting the public. Any officer found engaging in criminal activities will face the full weight of the law,” he stated.
Authorities urge the public to report any cases of police misconduct as part of ongoing efforts to restore trust in law enforcement.
