A Boko Haram terrorist has surrendered to troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The surrender, according to the Theatre Command, followed sustained military operations aimed at degrading terrorist networks and limiting their freedom of movement across the North East.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Goni said the terrorist voluntarily surrendered to troops at Pulka at about 9:20 a.m.
He said preliminary information indicated that the surrendered terrorist had previously operated around the Mandara Mountains axis, an area known for terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
According to him, troops recovered one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and a mobile phone from the terrorist following his surrender.
The surrendered terrorist is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in accordance with established military procedures.
The Theatre Command said the development was another indication of the impact of sustained military pressure on terrorist elements and the reduction of their freedom of action within the theatre.
It noted that the surrender also reflected ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to degrade terrorist capabilities while encouraging those still involved in terrorism to lay down their arms and embrace peace.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups, denying them freedom of action and creating the conditions for lasting peace and stability across the North East.
