Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has awarded N1 million each to 30 graduating students of the Indimi Trust Islamic Centre in Maiduguri after they successfully memorised the Holy Qur’an.

The governor announced the donation at the graduation ceremony held at the Indimi Mosque along the Old Damboa Road, Maiduguri, where the graduates were presented with certificates.

The 30 students were sponsored by renowned philanthropist and businessman, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, through the Indimi Islamic Trust.

Zulum also approved N2 million each for the eight teachers who trained the graduating students, bringing the total financial support to N46 million.

The governor commended Indimi for his sustained commitment to Islamic scholarship, education and human capital development, describing his contributions as significant to the development of the North-East and Nigeria.

Indimi, founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources, has consistently supported educational initiatives in the region and beyond. His foundation recently donated N2 billion to the University of Maiduguri Education Endowment Fund.

Zulum urged Islamic scholars to exercise restraint and humility in their religious preaching, stressing the importance of promoting peace, unity and responsible citizenship.

He called on the Ulamas to use their influence to strengthen peaceful coexistence and guide the Muslim faithful towards responsible conduct.

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting both formal and non-formal education, noting the importance of integrating Islamic learning with Western education.
