Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, has commended governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for promoting women’s participation in leadership and governance in the state.

Farauta made the commendation on Friday when the Association of Former Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria paid her a visit in her office in Yola.

She described loyalty and commitment to service as essential ingredients for success, urging the former vice chairpersons to remain united and supportive of one another.

The deputy governor said her advocacy for greater inclusion of women in governance contributed to the appointment of women as vice chairpersons across the 21 local government areas of the state.

“When my principal, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, brought me on board as his deputy, I made sure I appealed for women to be appointed as vice chairmen across the 21 LGAs,” she said.

Farauta also commended those who were re-elected for a second term for extending their support and “sisterhood” to colleagues who were not returned to office.

She urged the former vice chairpersons to regard themselves as one family and ensure that no member was left behind in their collective efforts to improve their welfare and livelihoods.

As the 2027 general elections approach, Farauta cautioned them against engaging in anti-party activities, stressing the need for loyalty and unity within their political family.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the former Vice Chairperson of Yola North Local Government, Mrs. Sara Samuel, thanked the deputy governor for supporting women’s political participation.

Samuel said their appointments provided them with valuable leadership experience, exposure and mentorship, which had equipped them with skills to improve the wellbeing of their families and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The development is part of the Fintiri administration’s broader efforts to promote gender inclusivity in governance, particularly by increasing women’s representation in decision-making and leadership positions across Adamawa State.

The administration has consistently highlighted women’s empowerment and greater female participation in politics as key components of its governance agenda.
