The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the alleged freezing of Osun State Government’s statutory allocations and bank accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing the action as politically motivated ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party accused the Federal Government of using federal institutions to weaken the Osun State administration.
The ADC described the alleged move as “political terrorism,” claiming it was aimed at undermining the state government in the lead-up to the election.
According to the party, the reported restriction of the state’s funds could disrupt the payment of workers’ salaries, healthcare delivery, education, and other essential government services.
The ADC also alleged that opposition politicians in Osun State had been subjected to intimidation and arrests, while accusing security agencies of failing to prevent political violence. However, the party did not provide evidence to substantiate the claims.
The party called on security agencies to remain neutral during the electoral process and demanded the immediate restoration of Osun State’s statutory allocations and local government funds. It also urged the Federal Government to refrain from interfering in the state’s political affairs.
