The Adamawa state police command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers following an intelligence-led operation under its ongoing security initiative, Operation Sanity Mubi.
The suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu, popularly known as “Baban Anty,” and Bello Yahaya, also called “Baban Yambiyu,” were apprehended in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara in Mubi, Mubi, Adamawa state.
According to the Command, the suspects, alongside two accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly attacked one Mustapha Ali, inflicted injuries on him, and dispossessed him of cash and other valuables.
Operatives attached to the Mubi North and Mubi South Divisions reportedly tracked and arrested the suspects after sustained intelligence gathering. During the operation, police recovered mobile phones, jewelry, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons allegedly used in the robbery.
The Command stated that the arrests form part of renewed efforts to curb criminal activities and strengthen public safety across the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, adding that efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace, security, and law and order across Adamawa state.
