Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commended the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the peaceful conduct of the party’s primary elections in Adamawa state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Fintiri gave the commendation while receiving the APC National Committee Chairman for the conduct of the primaries in Adamawa State, Innocent Barikor, alongside members of his team at the Government House in Yola.

The governor said the level of preparation and coordination by the party contributed significantly to the peaceful atmosphere witnessed during the exercise. He expressed optimism that the remaining stages of the primaries would also be conducted smoothly and without disruption.

Governor Fintiri further assured the committee of the state government’s readiness to provide adequate security and other necessary support to enable the successful conduct of the exercise across the state.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting, Professor Barikor said the committee’s findings indicated that the APC primaries for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections were conducted peacefully in various wards across Adamawa state.

He noted that election materials arrived at designated centres on time, describing the development as a clear demonstration of the party leadership’s commitment to credible, transparent and well-organized primary elections.

Professor Barikor also expressed satisfaction with the turnout of party members during the exercise, saying the large participation reflected the people’s confidence and interest in the democratic process.

According to him, developmental projects executed under the administration of Governor Fintiri also encouraged residents to actively participate in political activities within the state.

In his remarks, the Adamawa State Chairman of the APC, Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali, said the committee had assured all aspirants of a level playing ground during the primaries.

Alhaji Madagali called on aspirants and their supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the exercise, while commending the party leadership for providing all necessary materials for the successful conduct of the elections.

He reaffirmed the APC’s determination to conduct free, fair and credible primary elections across Adamawa State.
