MPAC Condemns Alleged U.S.–Israel Operation Targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader, Warns of Global Fallout

The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has strongly condemned a reported joint military operation by the United States and Israel that allegedly resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In a statement released over the weekend, the Nigerian-based advocacy organization described the alleged operation—reportedly code-named “Epic Fury” and said to have taken place in Tehran—as “state-sponsored terrorism” and a “dangerous rupture in international order.”

According to MPAC, the reported strike targeted the Iranian leader’s compound in Tehran and killed several senior officials, including his security adviser and the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The group stated that the operation was allegedly justified by claims of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons. However, MPAC emphasized that Iran is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), while Israel is not, arguing that the reported action would be widely viewed across the Muslim world as a grave escalation with far-reaching geopolitical consequences.

Fears of Regional Escalation

MPAC warned that Iran has vowed to respond, raising concerns that retaliatory measures could trigger a broader regional conflict in the Middle East.

“The risk of escalation remains immediate and significant,” the statement said, cautioning that nations perceived to have supported or cooperated in the operation could also face consequences.

The organization urged swift diplomatic intervention from the international community to prevent further deterioration, calling on world governments to condemn the reported attack and reaffirm the principle of national sovereignty.

Concerns Over International Law

In its statement, MPAC accused the United States and Israel of undermining international institutions, including the United Nations, and questioned adherence to established conventions governing armed conflict and state sovereignty.

The group argued that the targeted killing of a sitting head of state could destabilize an already fragile region and weaken global legal norms designed to prevent unilateral military actions.

Domestic Advisory to Nigeria

On domestic implications, MPAC advised the Nigerian government to tread cautiously in its foreign policy alignments, warning against what it described as “unequal power dynamics” in global alliances.

The organization also urged Nigerian Muslims to remain peaceful and law-abiding, stressing that external conflicts should not undermine national unity or internal stability.

The statement, signed by Disu Kamor, Executive Chairman of MPAC, concluded with a renewed demand for international accountability and a recommitment to global legal standards.

As tensions reportedly mount, global attention is expected to focus on diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in an already volatile geopolitical landscape.
