The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 14, 2026, when the victim, identified as Walid Kassim Mohammed, ran to the Shagari Police Division in distress, claiming he had been sprayed with a substance suspected to be acid while on his way to a mosque in the Shagari area.
Police sources said the teenager identified the alleged attacker as Idris Hamza, a resident of the same community.
Following the report, officers immediately rushed the victim to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. The suspect was subsequently taken into protective custody.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said in a statement issued on Thursday that the command would provide further updates as investigations continue.
