In a bold move to strengthen security and enhance public safety, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has officially handed over 47 patrol vehicles and 50 motorcycles to security agencies and local government councils across the state.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Government House in Damaturu, marked a significant step in the administration’s ongoing efforts to build a stable and secure environment for residents and businesses alike.
Governor Buni described the intervention as a strategic investment in the state’s long-term security framework, aimed at consolidating peace and fostering socio-economic development.
“This is about strengthening our security architecture to safeguard communities and provide stability for development. A peaceful Yobe is the foundation of a prosperous Yobe,” he said.
All 17 local government areas received allocations through their divisional police officers. Beneficiaries also included key national security agencies such as the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and community-based vigilante groups.
The motorcycles were specially assigned to improve mobility in remote and difficult-to-access communities, ensuring inclusive coverage in the fight against insecurity. Governor Buni also tasked local government chairmen with the responsibility of fueling and maintaining the vehicles to ensure sustainability and operational efficiency.
Security analysts and community stakeholders have hailed the move as a significant milestone in Yobe’s journey toward lasting peace. They noted that effective security infrastructure not only protects lives but also supports economic activity, attracts investment, and promotes social unity.
With this latest intervention, Yobe State is better equipped to respond to security challenges, safeguard its communities, and continue on the path toward peace, stability, and prosperity.
