In a significant move to bolster security operations, the Gombe State Government has handed over 50 operational and surveillance vehicles to security agencies, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state.
The official handover followed a high-impact ‘Show of Force’ exercise conducted by law enforcement agencies to demonstrate their readiness to tackle crime and ensure public safety.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd), highlighted that the vehicles were formally inaugurated at the recently concluded 2nd Gombe State Security Summit and have now been fully deployed to their designated security outfits.
“From today, these vehicles are in the custody of their respective security agencies and will be used to protect lives and property across Gombe State,” Col. Bello stated.
He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his proactive approach to security, describing peace as the bedrock of development.
“Gombe State is progressing because we have peace, and this stability is a result of deliberate and sustained government efforts,” he said.
Col. Bello noted that security agencies had previously struggled with mobility and logistics challenges, prompting Governor Yahaya’s intervention—the largest of its kind in the state’s 29-year history.
“The governor has responded swiftly and decisively by providing 50 fully equipped operational vehicles, ensuring that our security agencies have the tools they need to combat crime effectively,” he added.
The ‘Show of Force’ exercise, he explained, was aimed at reassuring residents of their safety while sending a strong message to criminal elements that security forces are fully prepared to neutralize any threats.
He urged citizens to go about their activities without fear, assuring them that security operatives remain vigilant and proactive in tackling crime.
Echoing this commitment, the Director-General of the Gombe State Security, Traffic, and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC), AIG Ibrahim Bappah (rtd), assured that the vehicles would be used efficiently to enhance security operations.
“All security outfits, both federal and local, have received their vehicles, and we are ready to put them to effective use in reciprocating Governor Inuwa’s generous support,” Bappah affirmed.
