The Borno state sovernment has disbursed N54.2 million to GSM village operators in Damasak as part of efforts to strengthen small businesses and support livelihoods across the state.
The intervention was carried out through the Borno State Social Investment Programme (BOSIMP) following a directive by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to provide support to grassroots businesses.
Presenting the funds to the beneficiaries, the General Manager of BOSIMP, Dr Amdan Lawan, confirmed the disbursement, saying the intervention was aimed at strengthening the businesses of the GSM operators.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum and the state government for the financial assistance, describing it as timely and important to sustaining and expanding their businesses.
They said the support would help improve their operations and contribute to the economic wellbeing of their families.
The intervention is part of the Borno state government’s broader social investment initiatives aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening local businesses and expanding economic opportunities for residents.
The government said such interventions would continue to support livelihoods and stimulate economic activities at the grassroots.
