The Yobe State House of Assembly has set up an ad hoc committee to investigate complaints of alleged misconduct by health practitioners and a shortage of qualified medical doctors in state health facilities.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Chiroma Buba Mashio, announced the committee during a plenary session in Damaturu. The panel will be chaired by Deputy Speaker Ya’u Usman Dachia, with Ahmed Musa Dumbol, Kachalla Ajiya Maina, Sanda Kara Bade, Saminu Musa Lawan, and Mohammed Ali serving as members.
Alhaji Mashio said the health sector has recorded significant achievements, but ongoing complaints require thorough investigation and corrective action.
In a related development, the House advanced a Bill to establish the Yobe State Senior Secondary Education Board. Presented by the executive, the Bill passed its second reading and has been referred to the House Standing Committee on Basic and Secondary Education for further action.
The Assembly also received two executive Bills seeking the establishment of a State Waqf Board and a State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Board, demonstrating ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and public service delivery in the state.
