Vice President Kashim Shettima has strongly condemned the suicide bombing that claimed multiple lives at a local eatery in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on Friday night, calling it a “heinous act of terrorism against innocent civilians.”
In a statement released on Saturday by his media aide, Stanley Kingsley Nkwocha, Shettima expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged the Federal Government’s full support for victims and their families.
“Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones in this senseless act of violence,” Shettima said. “The government stands with them in this difficult time and will provide all necessary support.”
The Vice President urged security and emergency agencies to launch swift investigations and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace in the Northeast.
“The administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains committed to restoring lasting peace and security to the Northeast and all parts of Nigeria. We will not allow our enemies to undermine the progress we have made in degrading their capabilities,” he added.
As of press time, authorities are yet to release the official number of casualties, though eyewitnesses reported multiple fatalities and injuries.
The Konduga attack is the latest in a series of security challenges confronting the region, despite years of military operations aimed at curbing insurgency.
