The Adamawa Sqtate Police Command has arrested two men over alleged involvement in transnational drug smuggling following the recovery of 197 sachets of Tramadol during a border security operation.
The suspects — 32-year-old Muhammad Mustapha from Dorayi in Kano State and 48-year-old Muhammad Sanusi of Garoua, Cameroon — were apprehended by operatives of the Border Patrol Fufore Unit while on routine patrol.
The arrest was made public in a statement issued yesterday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to preliminary investigations, the drugs were transported from a South-Eastern state and routed through Adamawa State en route to the Republic of Cameroon before security operatives intercepted the consignment.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the operation as a significant step in the fight against cross-border crimes. He directed the Command’s Monitoring Unit to take over the case for thorough investigation and necessary legal action.
The Command reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and other trans-border offences, vowing to intensify efforts to rid the state of illicit activities.
