The Yobe State Government has reaffirmed its commitments to boosting agricultural activities in the state with the procurement of an additional 40 tractors for distribution to farmers.
The initiative, as learnt by WorldClass247News, is part of the state government’s Agricultural Empowerment Programme, aimed at enhancing food security and economic growth.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, disclosed this development while briefing journalists in Damaturu, the state capital.
He noted that the newly acquired tractors complement the 100 units purchased during the last cropping season, bringing the total number of tractors procured to 140.
“As you may be aware, 100 units of tractors were procured during the last cropping season. His Excellency has now gone further to procure another 40 MF375 tractors for the people of Yobe State,” Goniri stated.
The tractors, as announced by him, will be distributed across the state’s zonal offices in Potiskum, Nguru, Gashu’a, and Damaturu, adding that, farmers can access them at subsidized rates to support their farming activities.
He applauded governor Mai Mala Buni for prioritizing the agricultural sector, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to revitalizing farming through the provision of essential implements.
He also urged the youth to seize the opportunity to engage in farming, steering clear of unproductive activities, stating that, “We encourage our youth to make good use of this opportunity and contribute to the state’s agricultural development.”
The commissioner reiterated the ministry’s readiness to support the governor’s vision of transforming Yobe’s agricultural sector into a cornerstone of economic growth and food sustainability.
