The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of livelihood empowerment items and food assistance to 653 households affected by the 2025 floods in Kebbi State under the Federal Government’s Presidential Post-Flood Intervention Programme.
The exercise was officially flagged off in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, by NEMA Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, who was represented at the event by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Alhaji Abbani Imam Garki.

She explained that the programme would be implemented across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to disaster risk reduction, humanitarian assistance and the protection of vulnerable communities.
The NEMA Director-General noted that the agency was working with State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs), relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, local government authorities and security agencies to ensure that the distribution was transparent, equitable and accountable.
She urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the assistance to rebuild their livelihoods and improve their economic conditions.
In his remarks, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Aliyu Umar, appreciated President Tinubu and NEMA for their continued support to disaster-affected and vulnerable communities in the state.
