The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, has expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the successful hosting of its 70th Anniversary celebrations.
In a message signed by the Chairperson of the FCT Chapter, Bassey Ita Ikpang, the association commended the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, for his visionary leadership and dedication, which she said were evident throughout the anniversary events.
Ikpang also praised the Deputy National President of NUJ, Dr. Bimbo Oyetunde, for what she described as an exceptional contribution to the success of the celebration, noting that her commitment and brilliance left an indelible mark on the occasion.
Special recognition was given to the Chairperson of the FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, for her effective coordination and support as the host, which were key to the event’s success.
The NAWOJ FCT Chapter also expressed gratitude for the various awards and recognitions given to members of the association’s national leadership—past and present—many of whom hail from the FCT.
“Congratulations to our National Chairperson, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, on receiving recognition during your tenure,” the statement read. “This honour speaks to your inclusive and people-centred leadership that continues to inspire.”
The chapter further acknowledged the contributions of past NAWOJ leaders from the FCT and extended appreciation to all members who travelled from different parts of the country to attend the event in Abuja.
The statement concluded with a note of thanksgiving: “Above all, we return all glory to God for making it all possible.”
