The Taraba State Government, under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas, has commended the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state.
The acknowledgment came on Wednesday during the 2024 Combined Headquarters 6 Brigade Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA), held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.
Representing the governor, Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, praised the Brigade for its dedication to combating insecurity. He reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to continue supporting the Brigade’s operations into 2025.
“The government deeply appreciates the dedication and professionalism of the 6 Brigade in ensuring the safety of our communities,” Kataps said during his address.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), underscored the significance of the WASA celebration.
He described it as a moment to reflect on the Brigade’s achievements over the past year and to honor the resilience and professionalism of its personnel.
“Despite significant security challenges, we mitigated threats to the barest minimum through determination and professionalism,” General Uwa noted.
He also lauded the Taraba State Government for providing additional logistics support to enhance the Brigade’s operations.
General Uwa assured the people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s unrelenting dedication to safeguarding the state and supporting civil authorities.
The WASA event, as observed by WorldClass247News, featured various cultural displays, the symbolic beating of retreat, and the traditional lighting of the bonfire, celebrating the Nigerian Army’s heritage and its contributions to national security.
