Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa state, has commended the 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for its outstanding efforts in enhancing security and fostering cooperation among security agencies in the state.
The governor’s commendation came during the 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA) celebration, held at the 232 Battalion Parade Ground, Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Jimeta-Yola.
Represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, Governor Fintiri praised the Brigade’s courage and dedication in addressing the state’s security challenges.
“The 23 Brigade has demonstrated exceptional commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Adamawa State. Your efforts in combating crime and maintaining security are highly commendable,” he stated.
Governor Fintiri also applauded the leadership of Brigadier General PK Zawaya, the Brigade Commander, for fostering unity among security agencies. He reassured the Brigade of the state government’s unwavering support for its operations and initiatives.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Zawaya highlighted the Brigade’s accomplishments in meeting its 2024 training objectives and reducing security threats in the region.
“We remain committed to our constitutional duties, ensuring peace and stability through professionalism and dedication,” he said.
General Zawaya expressed gratitude to Major General AE Abubakar, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, and to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. OO Oluyede, for their guidance and support. He also acknowledged Governor Fintiri for his partnership and contributions to the Brigade’s achievements.
The WASA event, was observed to have featured colorful displays of Nigeria’s cultural diversity, including traditional dances, comedy performances, tug-of-war competitions, and a bonfire ceremony.
