Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has reiterated his administration commitment to enhance internal revenue generation by leveraging the potential of the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.
The initiative, as stated by him, is part of the state’s broader economic diversification strategy aimed at reducing reliance on federal allocations.
The governor has identified the critical role livestock development plays in the state’s economy.
He noted that Yobe, with its vast grazing reserves and a significant population of livestock farmers, has the potential to become a hub for livestock production and trade in Nigeria.
“We are committed to transforming the livestock sector into a major revenue earner for the state. This will not only boost our internally generated revenue but also create job opportunities and improve the livelihoods of our people,” Buni stated.
Through the full-pledge Ministry, the state, according to him, will invest in veterinary services, modern ranching techniques, and disease control measures to enhance livestock productivity.
Announcing that, farmers will receive training, access to affordable loans, and improved livestock breeds to boost output, efforts, as stated by him, will also be focus on developing meat processing, dairy production, and leatherworks to maximize value addition.
