The Gombe State Police Command has ordered the immediate closure of all illegal motor parks and unauthorised taxi services operating within the Gombe metropolis, including the well-known Dadin Kowa Motor Park.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the move is part of a government-backed initiative to restore public order, enhance security, and regulate the transportation sector in the state capital.
Under the new directive, all commercial vehicles are now required to carry out loading and unloading activities exclusively at the Ibrahim Hassan Dan-Kwambo motor park which the state has reaffirmed as the only officially recognized facility for such purposes.
Additionally, any taxi operating without the official paint and identification will be considered illegal. “Any individual or group found operating unauthorized parks or taxis will be arrested, prosecuted, and risk having their vehicles impounded,” the police warned.
The command has urged residents and commuters to avoid using vehicles that operate outside of the designated motor park or lack proper identification, citing safety concerns.
Authorities say the enforcement aims to ease traffic congestion, ensure passenger safety, and improve the efficiency of the transport system in the city.
Security agencies were said to have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order, and the public is encouraged to report any suspicious or unauthorised transport activities to the nearest security post.
