Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Management Board of the Jimeta Modern Market, in a move aimed at restructuring and enhancing the market’s operations.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
According to the statement, the Board Chairman and all members have been relieved of their duties and instructed to hand over all government property in their custody to the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry.
The Commissioner will now take charge of the market’s administration as the state embarks on a transitional phase. Governor Fintiri underscored the importance of ensuring continuity and stability during the handover process.
“The Ministry of Commerce and Industry must now ensure a seamless transition and work diligently to maintain the market’s functionality,” the Governor said.
He also called on the ministry and other relevant authorities to prioritize the interests of traders and business owners, stressing the importance of creating a conducive environment for economic activity.
“The market’s success is crucial to the state’s economic well-being, and we expect the ministry to take all necessary steps to ensure its optimal operation,” he added.
The dissolution, as observed by WorldClass247News, is part of the state government’s broader initiative to reform public institutions and improve commercial infrastructure in order to drive sustainable economic growth across Adamawa State.
