The Adamawa State Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry has warned members of the public against fraudsters allegedly collecting money from unsuspecting individuals under the guise of securing or re-acquiring shops at the newly constructed Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Joab Haggai Sahma, issued the warning in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Adamu Buba.

According to the statement, the ministry had received reports that some individuals were demanding money from members of the public, claiming that payment would guarantee the allocation or re-acquisition of shops at the shopping mall.

Sahma described the development as fraudulent and stressed that the ministry had not authorised any individual or group to collect money for the allocation or re-acquisition of shops at the facility.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid dealing with anyone demanding payment for such purposes, regardless of the position or identity the person claims to hold.

The ministry advised anyone approached by suspected fraudsters not to make any payment, but to promptly report the matter to the ministry or appropriate security authorities.

It said the warning was issued to protect members of the public from falling victim to fraudulent activities linked to the allocation and re-acquisition of shops at the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall.
