The Edo state government has dismissed rumors suggesting that some local government workers in the state have not been paid their salaries due to an alleged crisis in the councils.
In a statement issued in Benin City, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, described the claims as false and misleading.
He attributed the claims to mischief makers, who according to him, are working round the clock to discredit the achievements of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.
He urged the public to disregard the rumors, emphasizing that no government worker, including local government staff, is owed any salary.
“The Edo state government has remained committed to the timely payment of salaries despite challenges, including setbacks in allocation payment caused by the ongoing legal dispute between the state and embattled local government chairmen,” Itua stated.
He further highlighted that the state governor pragmatic approach to governance ensuring that no Edo worker, regardless of status, faces undue hardship
