Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the education sector by implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking on Friday, Governor Okpebholo announced that his government has embarked on the reconstruction, renovation, and remodeling of over 100 schools across the state’s three senatorial districts.

In a press statement issued out to Journalists by the Press Secretary to the state governor, Fred Itua, the governor announced that 120 schools have as well been earmarked for similar infrastructural upgrades.

“This is a demonstration of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Okpebholo stated. “Massive renovation, reconstruction, and remodeling are ongoing across Edo State schools. The people are happy, and we will continue to do more for the benefit of our children.”

The governor emphasized that his administration’s goal is to create a conducive learning environment for students, ensuring they have access to modern facilities.

He expressed confidence that within one to two years, Edo State would witness significant educational transformation.

Edo State Commissioner for Education, Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, also lauded the governor’s commitment, noting that the administration has backed its words with action.

“Governor Okpebholo is a leader who follows through on his promises. Construction, renovation, and remodeling are taking place in schools across the state. Parents, students, and entire communities are excited about this progress,” Iyamu said.

He also highlighted plans to recruit 100 technical school teachers following a needs assessment across the state’s three technical colleges.

The recruitment, he explained, aims to enhance technical education and equip students with skills relevant to the modern workforce.

Governor Okpebholo inspected multiple schools in Edo South, including Eweka Primary School, Obazagbon; Oroma Primary School, Amagba; and Uyiosa Primary School, Uzebu Quarters, in Oredo Local Government Area.

He was also noticed to have visited New Era College in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, where new classrooms, offices, toilets, perimeter fences, security posts, and boreholes are under construction.
