The Adamawa State Police Command has announced plans to challenge a recent judgment by the Yola High Court, which ordered the release of a suspected kidnapper, Hammadu Musa, and awarded him N5 million in damages.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command clarified the circumstances surrounding Musa’s arrest.
According to the statement, Musa was apprehended by local vigilantes over allegations of kidnapping and was subsequently handed over to the police for investigation.
Following an inquiry, the police claim a prima facie case was established against Musa, leading to his arraignment.
The case file was then sent to the Adamawa State Ministry of Justice for legal advice and prosecution.
The police also refuted allegations of unlawful detention, stating that Musa’s remand in a correctional facility in Yola was carried out under the directives of the court.
“The Command acted within the bounds of the law and ensured due process was followed,” the statement read.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to justice and revealed ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Justice to appeal the High Court’s decision.
The police move, as reliably gathered by WorldClass247News, is aimed at seeking a review of the judgment to ensure the case is revisited.
